We argue that intentions with autonomous consequences pose difficulties that force us to go beyond traditional models of decision making. Of course, this does not mean that all intentions require such extensions. Intentions without autonomous consequences can readily be described in terms of strategies in extensive decision problems. However, as we hope to show, even the incorporation of such 'standard' intentions may form an enrichment of the decision theoretic framework.
